NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
