The History of Poker Money
Casino chips have been made from a wide range of materials in an almost infinite assortment of styles since the advent of betting and the need to keep track of winnings. The most commonly used components employed today in the manufacture of current poker chips are plastic, clay, and acrylics. Clay chips, the primary of the group, have been made in America since the late 19th century.
Back in the 19th century, poker enthusiasts seemed to use any small valuable object imaginable. Early poker players occasionally employed jagged gold pieces as well as chips – mainly manufactured of wood and clay. By the 1900s, poker chip designs began to play a bigger prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips gave way to chips with ridges to hold them neatly stacked together.
There is little doubt that poker has expanded steadily in appeal since its origin in the 19th century. With the huge advancement of online gambling and specialty TV shows, public appeal in poker has accelerated more rapidly than ever before. Many individuals are first introduced to poker by television showssuch as "Celebrity Poker" or the Travel Channel’s "World Poker Tour," and most will bet on their 1st hands online. Despite net poker’s rise, not much replaces the feeling of holding weighty poker chips in your hands, tossing chips into the center of a casino table, or creating tall pilesstacks of chips after showing a winning hand.
