Focus on Annie Duke
Annie Duke mightn’t have came away with her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but Annie is still one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her four kids. She hails from New Hampshire and grew up in a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught Annie the correct way to play the game.
However, Annie Duke is not a small fry kind of girl and has earned her cut of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard a few times on numerous occasions.
Earning over three million dollars in tournament play, Annie became a advisor to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to develop his techniques and become a big player in poker.
You might just see her at the Bellagio, you’ll catch her on the television and you may even compete against her in an internet poker match, but do not bank on an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it would be fun to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
