Mr. Brunson
Doyle Brunson started his gambling profession by taking part in illegal games held in Exchange Street, Texas together with a buddy, Dwayne Hamilton. Down the road the two of them journeyed by means of Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma taking part in bigger games and meeting other professional players like Sailor Roberts and Amarillo Slim. Doyle Brunson is still active on the world poker scene and in 2003 he landed his ninth gold bracelet. In ‘04, he finished 53rd out of 2576 professionals in NL Hold em Championship as well ace spades winning the Legends of Poker WPT that gained him another $1 million in prize money. His winnings continued into ‘05 when he earned his tenth WSOP bracelet. In doing so he tied the score with Johnny Chan who had also won the same series for the 10th time.
Doyle Brunson’s nickname, "Texas Dolly," is really a consequence of error made by Jimmy Snyder who was expected to say, "Texas Doyle" when saying Brunson except read the first name improperly. The name got stuck and his pals in the wagering world just call him Dolly.
Two Texas hold’em hands are called after Doyle Brunson. The 10 and 2 of any suit is one such hand whilst the other is recognized by his name and is made up of the Ace and Queen of any suit. The 2nd hand was named based upon a remark in his publication that claims Doyle Brunson never plays this hand. Doyle Brunson now has his own web based Poker room referred to as "Doyles Room".
