Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
