Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complicated but popular poker variations. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible variation, has expanded in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha hi low starts just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of betting ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are given out, this is called the flop. Another sequence of betting happens. After all the players have either called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of wagering ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to put together the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some entrants get confused. Contrasted to Holdem, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player has to utilize exactly 3 cards on the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same approach in nearly every poker game.

The low hand is more difficult, but really opens up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand available, the high hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem complicated at the start, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the basic nuances of play with ease. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better offers an amazing assortment of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have several individuals battling for the high hand, and many trying for the low hand. If you like a game with all kinds of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha 8 or better.
