Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
