Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
