Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
