Pai Gow Poker is a modern game with old ancestry. Based on the ancient Chinese tile game and the modern American variation of poker, Pai Gow poker combines the eastern with the western in a fantastic game for beginning level players.

Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player vs. the house, unlike almost all other poker games that gamblers compete against other players. By betting against the dealer, beginning players do not need to worry about any other, more knowledgeable players taking their cash.

A further Pai Gow advantage is the generally leisurely game pace, novices can take their time and scheme while not needing to make quick selections.

Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the normal 52-card standard deck and a single joker. The player is dealt seven cards faces showing and the house is given 7 cards faces hidden.

One five card hand and one 2 card hand have to be made from the seven cards, the 5 card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand values to be better than the houses.
