No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
